Transfer Tips from the Director of UW
International Admissions

Kim, the UW Director of International Admissions, will give inside information on how to be admitted to the University of Washington Seattle as an international transfer student! Every year she comes and fills up the largest room on campus. If you skip this, your friends will have an advantage in applying over you! November 17, 2:30, SS-8.

Pacific Lutheran University Tour Nov 20th

PLU is hosting an event for international students interested in exploring a possible transfer from area community colleges. If you are interested in PLU you will not want to miss this free event at their Tacoma campus! You will get a campus tour led by PLU students, enjoy some fun social and educational activities and have a free dinner. This is a great chance to visit and learn more about one of the excellent private schools in WA State. Leave GRCC campus, Nov 20th at 2:30pm and return by or before 10:00pm. Sign up with Melanie Kaneshiro mkaneshiro@greenriver.edu by Nov 16th.

You Need a Student ID

If you do not have a GRCC student identification card, please get one! If you need to have your I-20 signed, pick up checks or returned mail, you need picture identification to do so. A student ID card is the easiest way to get a picture ID. You may get your ID card by taking your passport or Washington state ID to the bookstore or the library along with a printed copy of your class schedule. Your student ID card may even help you get a student discount for admission fees to some movie theaters and museums. Please do not carry around your passport for identification. You risk losing it!

News Flash!!! Regarding WA State ID

Washington ID – First quarter international students are now able to get a Washington State ID card if they come to IP, request the WA ID documents IP provides and take the documents (do not open the envelopes!) to the Kent Department of Licensing with their visa and passport. IMPORTANT: The Federal Way and other Department of Licensing offices do not always accept both the documents we provide, so please go to Kent. If you are getting a Driver’s License and not just the ID, please realize there are other requirements to get your license, so plan ahead: http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/steps.html . If you decide to buy a car, remember it is a state law to have auto insurance: http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/insurance.html . The minimum fine for not having auto insurance in the state of Washington is $450.00!
