Summer 2010 E-Newsletter Issue #4

Important Dates


August 12th- Last day of instruction
August 18th- Grade available online
September 6th- Labor Day holiday (campus closed)
September 18th- Last day to add name to waitlist (by 10:30 pm)
September 20th- Fall classes begin, tuition is due, last day for 100% refund of tuition and fees

Paying Tuition


Tuition is due on the first day of each quarter. However, we recommend that you pay your tuition before the first day of the quarter, to avoid long lines in Cashiering area and any banking delays which could end up costing you extra money. A $95.00 late fee will be added to your account if tuition is unpaid by 5:00 pm on the first day of the quarter.


Transferring to University in Fall 2010? Please Read!


If you plan to apply to any university check the online application requirements and begin preparing your documents right away. Many CA schools have an application deadline of Nov 30th. Now is the time to collect your financial statement, high school transcript as well as any required immunization records. This will be easier to do if you will be returning home, or while you are having a break.


IESL Announcements

Finals: August 9-10
See your instructor for room location and time.
Grade Day: August 11, 2010 at 11:00a.m.
Graduation: August 12, 2010 at 12:00p.m.
First Day of Fall Quarter: September 20, 2010.


IESL Students must attend the first day of the quarter.
If you are returning, please make sure your flight arrives before September 20, 2010.

* GRCC Safety Alert- Subscribe to GRCC Safety Alert and keep informed of Campus emergencies, safety issues and inclement weather emergency closures. This is a FREE service available to all GRCC students. Click here to learn more and to subscribe.


* Send a Red Flag- GRCC has an information reporting system. Please click here to report any suspicious behavior or security threats on campus. In a true emergency please call 911 first to contact the police, the fire department or to get emergency medical help.


* Campus Safety Rides are available from dusk until 11:00 pm on Sunday through Thursday, and dusk until 2:00 am on Friday and Saturday within 1.5 miles of campus. Call 253-797-4868 which will put you in direct contact with the driver of the van that night. Be safe, use Safety Rides!

July 19th- No advising available in IP Office
July 30th- Last day to submit pass/non-credit petition to Enrollment Services
July 30th- Last day to complete official withdrawal from summer quarter- All registration transactions must be completed- Web available to drop class(es)



Begin Preparing NOW for your 2011 University Transfer

  1. Choose at least 5 schools to apply to (visit http://www.collegeboard.com/)

  2. Check out the online admission and application requirements

  3. Gather those needed documents (bank statement, high school transcripts, etc)

  4. Start writing your personal essays

  5. Take the TOEFL exam (click here to register)

Lost and Found in IP

If you think any of these might be yours, come to the IP Office with a description and claim your lost item. Unclaimed items will be given to Campus Security next week, 7/26.
