Are you beginning to fill out university transfer applications? Get some help with your essays on Thursday mornings in the IP Office. From 9:00-12:00 Melanie will be reviewing essays and giving feedback on an appointment basis. For some ideas to get started with your rough draft look in the notes on Facebook or on Angel for the article called "Writing Your University Application Essay", or pick up a hard copy in IP. Then schedule ahead for your Thursday morning private 20 minute session.

Transfer Thursdays at UW

Are you planning on applying to UW? Check out the UW open house which is available each Thursday afternoon at 2:30. Consult the Transfer Thursday website to confirm the schedule for the day and to pre-register, especially because some information sessions, such as the Foster School of Business and the School of Art, begin prior to 2:30.

Check your Winter Quarter Registration Access Time Oct 23rd

View your access time through Online Services, available starting Oct 23rd. Access times begin in November. Know your access time so that you can secure your winter classes at the first possible moment. As Alvin says, "You'll want to lock in your classes no more than 45 secs from your registration access time!"

If we have Green River Flooding

Green River Community College will not be in the immediate flood zone should there be serious flooding this winter. However, services such as sewer, power, key transportation routes and transit service may be disrupted for a period of time. All students should be prepared with a personal plan in the unlikely event we should need to close operations. How Green River is preparing:
1. The Emergency Operations Committee is actively preparing a plan for the general campus 2. Providing a preparedness plan for students living in on-campus housing and surrounding area of Lea Hill 3. Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation is looking for up to 25 additional volunteers for their annual Halloween Harvest Festival. Saturday, October 24 from 2-5pm at Washington Elementary School Gymnasium at 20 "E" St. NE, Auburn, Washington 98002.
Arrival time at 1 pm, departure - after cleanup - at 5:45pm.

New Academic Students must schedule a New Student Appointment (NSA)

If this is your first academic quarter, schedule your NSA with your assigned advisor at the IP office. During this appointment your advisor will answer your questions and help you make an academic plan for your time at GRCC and beyond. If you do not complete your appointment by November 6, your registration account will be blocked. Yikes! Check the IP Office Hours above and go to the Front Desk of IP to get your appointment time right away.

Oct 5th- All late enrollments require an instructor’s signature. $35 late fee applies to each course addition.
Oct 9th- Last day for 40% refund of tuition only (fees are non-refundable)
Oct 9th- Last day to withdraw and not have class(es) posted to permanent transcript

Preparing for Fall 2010 Transfer?

- You probably need TOEFL scores with your application. Register for TOEFL Now! Test dates are almost filled up in WA State. Check what’s still available and register online with ETS today. You can order additional TOEFL Score to be sent to the universities.
- Start writing your personal statements early. Get started using this helpful website or another. You may also get some help in the Writing Center.
- Request High School Transcripts to be sent. They will need to be translated if not already prepared in English.
- Register for SAT (with ETS) if you are completing your high school diploma at GRCC. Some Universities require SAT for all transfer students. Check your schools admissions requirements online.
- Attend upcoming Transfer Workshops to get additional resources.

The Writing Center is Open

Fall hours are M-Th 9-4pm and F 9-3. No appointment is necessary. We are located in RLC-174. Offering:
-Focused 20-25 minute tutoring sessions

Peer Volunteer Applications are available now in the IP Office

Help welcome new international students to Green River and assist students and Advisors with quarterly advising activities.
Requirements:
· Must attend new student orientation during winter and spring quarter (see volunteer description in IP for dates)
· Be outgoing and open to meeting new people
· Have attended GRCC for at least two quarters by the time winter quarter begins
· Be a current GRCC student and commit to volunteering during winter and spring
· Are currently and actively involved in the GRCC campus community
· Prefer previous volunteer or work experience
Complete volunteer descriptions and applications are available at the front desk of the IP Office. Applications are due by Friday, October 16 at 5:00pm to the IP Office.

Update your address, phone and email using online services today. Keeping your contact information current is required by law and it also helps you from missing any important communication.

12 Credit Minimum

Are you registered for at least 12 credits? F-1 students are required by law to carry at least 12 credits per quarter. If you are having trouble picking up enough classes you must meet with your Advisor right away to discuss your options.

Tips to Avoid a Flu Outbreak

Tip #1: Stay home if you're sick.
Tip #2: Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Tip #3: Wash your hands often and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Tip #4: Cover your mouth or nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
Tip #5: Keep up with health information in your own community.

Important Insurance Tip

Avoid going to the Emergency Room (ER) at the hospital unless you have a serious life threatening emergency. Your student insurance will not cover the high cost of an ER visit. It's best to use a walk in clinic like the various Multi-Care clinics during daytime, even for broken bones and other non-life threatening emergencies. Come into the office if you have questions and/or want to pick up a list of nearby clinics.

IESL Information

Institutional TOEFL
TOEFL sign up is October 6, 2009 in the Glacier Room (Spaces are limited).
Institutional TOEFL test is on October 17, 2009.
IESL Tutoring
The IESL tutoring Department is processing tutoring request for IESL students. If you are an IESL student and would like a tutor please talk to your instructor and ask them to recommend you for tutoring.
It is the IESL tutoring policy that If you are 5 minutes late or miss one tutor session unexcused you can be dropped from tutoring for that quarter.
ATTENDANCE POLICY & PROCEDURE
In-class participation is crucial to the nature of the Intensive ESL program; therefore attendance is very important in learning English. In-class activities cannot be duplicated; therefore there are no excused absences. Absent is absent. Ten or more minutes late will also be considered absent. The attendance policy and procedure is as follows:
1 - 3 absences The students must study the work they missed in their own time and do all of the homework; however, any tests or quizzes or in-class assignments or in-class activities cannot be made up. If such assignments or quizzes/tests are missed, the student’s grade will reflect those missed scores.
4 - 5 absences Three (3) or more absences may reflect the student is not taking responsibility for their own learning and actions. Significant in-class participation activities are not being met; thus, a student’s grade will reflect that this learning outcome has been drastically and negatively impacted. The students must study the work they missed in their own time and do all of the homework. There will be no make-up tests for missed classes.
6 absences Student will fail the class. Student may be asked to withdraw.
There is no “permission or excused absences” given for late arrivals, early finals or early departures. All students are expected to attend each day of the quarter. If you arrive late or depart early, attendance and quite possibly the grade will be affected.
Plan to arrive at the beginning of the quarter and don’t leave until the quarter ends.

International Programs Office Hours (during the next two weeks)

In an effort to serve students better, the walk in schedule has been adjusted as follows:

Week One 9/21-9/23 -Extended walk in hours (no appointments) from 8 am to 5 pm
9/24-9/25 - 9 am to 5 pm

Week Two 9/28-10/2- Walk in available Mon-Fri from 9 am to noon and 1-5 pm

Tuition Fee

Tuition fee is due by the first day of the quarter (9/21/09). There will be a $95 late fee for students who still have a balance due by the end of the business day. If you are still finalizing your schedule, you are still required to pay your outstanding balance by 9/21/09. Once your schedule is finalized and you have added new courses that were not paid for, you can pay for those classes at that time.
Avoid the line at the cashier's office! Pay Online.

9/23:- Last day to register for fall quarter without instructor signature

9/24:- All registration adds require instructor signature

9/25:- Last day for 80% refund of tuition only- fees nonrefundable

10/5:- All late enrollments require instructor signature

10/5:- $35 late fee applies to each course addition

10/9:- Last day for 40% refund of tuition only (fees nonrefundable) and last day to drop and not have the class posted on your permanent transcript

12 Credit Rule

All academic students must register for a minimum of 12 credits to be in compliance with the immigration regulations. If you are having problems getting registered for enough credits you must speak with your advisor to find the best solution.

How to Overload into Classes

If you are on a wait list on the first day of class and you still want to be enrolled in that class, you must attend the class and get permission from the instructor. Sometimes they "Overload" their class with extra seats. Classes are particularly full this quarter and there is high demand, so there is no guarantee that you will get in. Be polite with your request and you may have a chance! Bring your permission form(s) to an advisor to get registered.

Your grades for summer quarter will be posted online on August 19th.

New Walk In and Appointment Availability

We have changed walk in and appointment times in order to better serve you. Walk ins will start one hour earlier at 9:00 am! Walk in advising is limited to 15 minutes per session. Appointments are limited to 30 minutes and must be scheduled at least on day in advance.
Monday: Walk in from 9:00-noon and 1:00-5:00 pm
Tuesday: Walk in from 9:00-noon and 1:00-5:00 pm
Wednesday: Advisors will be available for appointments from 9:oo-noon
Walk in from 1:00-5:00 pm
Thursday: Limited Walk in advising from 9:00 to noon and 1:00-5:00 pm

Paying Tuition

Tuition is due on the first day of each quarter. However, we recommend that you pay your tuition before the first day of the quarter, to avoid long lines in Cashiering area and any banking delays which could end up costing you extra money. A $95.00 late fee will be added to your account if tuition is unpaid by 5:00 pm on the first day of the quarter.

Many CA schools have an application deadline of Nov 30th. If you hope to apply check the online application requirements and begin preparing your documents right away. It is time to collect your financial statement, high school transcript as well as any required immunization records, which may be even easier to do if you will be returning home, or while you are having a break.

General Description:
Under general supervision by the IP Front Desk Manager, IP Student Receptionists are responsible for general reception and clerical duties in the IP Student Services office.
Position Responsibilities:
· Answer phones and greet guests to the IP Student Services office
· Schedule appointments and meeting rooms for the IP staff
· File, photocopy and fax documents as requested
· Send outgoing mail to include packages and bulk mailing
· Create and send form letters
· Maintain marketing materials to include: stuff promotional brochures, program information folders and others
· Maintain supply inventories
· Maintain Student Resource Center and general reception area
· Send materials to prospective students
· May participate in new student orientation
· Perform other related responsibilities as assigned
· Maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Minimum Qualifications:
· Fluent in writing and speaking English (academic level)
· Students must be currently enrolled in a full-time academic educational program
· Students must show educational achievement by meeting the overall minimum GPA requirement of 3.0
· Students must be in good standing according to student visa immigration regulations
· Students must plan to remain at GRCC for at least 2 additional quarters
Preferred Qualifications:

SAT Help

Collegeboard.com has a great resource for SAT test takers. You can download an 88 page SAT prep booklet that is available for download. It includes information about how to approach the questions in the different sections, how to translate scores, and also provides a practice SAT. Volunteer Opportunities
Two upcoming Major Swim Meets at the Weyerhaeuser-King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way. Volunteers are needed!

The US Open is August 4-8th and the Speedo Nationals event is August 10th-14th.
For each meet there will be two shifts per day: 7:30am – 2:00pm and 4:00pm – 8:30pm. Event t-shirts will be provided.
The volunteer jobs are:
Timing: using a stop watch provided and pushing the starting block electronic button (sitting in chair at finish end of pool)
Helping Hospitality Director: assist with food service (mostly standing and walking)
Deck marshals: enforcing credential access, directing people to areas (wear provided vest, standing, walking & sitting)
Ticket taker: take tickets at doors, direct people to seating areas and stamp hands (sitting at table)
Administration support: copying, distributing copies in sorting boxes, posting results, distributing information and helping at registration tables (walking, sitting and standing)

The Auburn International Farmers Market

is looking for volunteers to support the market though Sunday, September 27th.
We need assistance in the area of:
· Promotions/Community outreach
· Updating the market website
· Setting up and breaking-down for opening and closing of the market
· Set-up 10 A-frames in designated areas around the city
· Pedestrian traffic monitors
· Relieving other volunteers for breaks
· Helping vendors as needed
· Maintaining the overall appearance of the plaza.
· Creating activities for the kid’s zone

Important Date

July 31st- Last day to Withdraw from any class(es). Final day to submit Pass/Non-Credit to Enrollment services. All registrations must be complete.

Be Aware of Immigration Rules

If you are not on vacation status please be careful to not drop below 12 credits during summer quarter. Dropping below 12 credits puts you in danger of going out of your visa status as a full time student. If you need to drop a class please check with your advisor first.

Numbering for Physics Classes

In order to make sure that GRCC students receive credit for both lecture and lab in their physics courses, the college has been forced to change the course numbers for physics classes again. The following changes will be effective beginning in the fall of 2009:

Physics& 100 will become Physics 105.
Physics& 121 will become Physics 110.
Physics& 221 will become Physics 201
Physics& 222 will become Physics 202

We apologize for the incorrect course numbers that appear in the printed fall quarter schedule. Students must register for Physics 105, 110, 201, or 202. Again, this change was made to protect the transfer credit of our students.

Counseling Services

Counseling Services will be open on Mondays from 9 am to 3:30 pm during the remainder of Summer quarter. We're also open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 am to 4 pm.

IESL News

In-class registrations forms will be distributed in your Reading/Writing classes starting on Monday, July 20th. They will be used to determine your plans for next quarter. When you fill it out, please be sure all of your information is accurate and up to date. If you plan on taking a vacation quarter, transferring, or going home please be sure to see your advisor as soon as possible. If you plan on attending GRCC, you will be registered upon receipt of your form. If you are not sure of your plans, an IESL staff member will follow up with you in a few weeks.

Immigration Requirements and the 12 Credit Rule

All academic students must register for and complete a min. of 12 credits each quarter to be in compliance with the immigration regulations. If you are registered for less than 12 credits and need assistance to pick up more credits see an advisor immediately! If you want to be on a vacation quarter you must also see an advisor to check eligibility and register for that option.
If you are on a vacation quarter, you may legally work (only on campus) up to 40 hours a week. You may not work off campus including from home. Please beware of work from home internet scandals.

New Transcript Request Form, plus $3 Cost per Transcript

As of July 1st there is a new Outgoing Transcript Request Form and process.

Click here for the new form. Please note the changes with this form:

1) There is a $3.00 fee per transcript ordered. Students may pay by cash (in person only), or by check, money order or credit card to the Cashiers department (mailing address included on form).

2) The Cashiers Office will be collecting the requests rather than Enrollment Services. Requests will not be processed without payment.
3) Requests can take up to 3 days for processing. All transcript requests will now be mailed back to the address listed on the form.

ETS Makes Changes for TOEFL Testing Fees

The following changes will take effect July 1st (all fees are shown in US$):

• Test fee increase: The minimum fee is $150, and prices range from there, depending on testing location. Some countries experienced no fee increase.

• Late registration fee: $35 (was $25)

• Reschedule fee: $60 (was $50)

In establishing these fees, ETS has tried to strike a balance between our costs, which vary by region, and specific market sensitivities. Despite the fee increase, TOEFL is still less expensive than IELTS in almost every country in the world.
TOEFL iBT test fee vouchers purchased from ETS by institutions and organizations at the previous test fee will be honored. No additional payment will be necessary when test takers register using a voucher previously purchased.

Important Dates

June 22nd- Summer classes begin. Tuition is due by 5:00pm. Last day for 100% refund of tuition and fees.
June 23rd- Last day to register for summer quarter without instructor signature.
June 24th- All registrations and adds require instructor signature- no web registrations. Tuition and fees due at time of registration. Last day for 80% refund of tuition only-fees are non-refundable.
July 2nd- $35 late fee applies to each course addition. Last day for 40% refund of tuition only- fees nonrefundable.
July 3rd- Independence Day holiday (Campus Closed)
July 8th- Last day to withdraw and not have class(es) posted to permanent transcript.

Summer IP Office Hours

During the first three days of the quarter walk in advising hours have been extended. You may see an advisor for registration help from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm from June 22nd- 24th.
Summer office hours will be as normal except on Friday. Doors open at 9:00 am. Walk in advising is available from 10:00 am until noon and again from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, and until 4:00 pm on Fridays.

Tuition Due Date

Tuition is due by the first day of the quarter (6/22/09). Students that have any amount of tuition owing at the close of the business on the first day of the quarter will receive a $95 late fee.

I-20 Signatures

Students should come in to have their I-20 signed for travel as early as one month before they leave the USA and as late as 2 weeks before they leave. Coming in less than 2 weeks before you leave the USA is not advised. From time to time students need to change their major or some other aspect of their I-20 and coming in at the last minute doesn’t allow enough time. If you’re planning to go back home, please keep this in mind.

Schedule your NSA

If this is your first academic quarter, schedule a New Student Appointment with your assigned advisor at the IP office. Your advisor will help you plan your education at GRCC and answer any questions you have. If you fail to complete your appointment by the end of the quarter, you registration account will be blocked. Yikes!

Have you Moved?

If you recently moved, please click here to update your address. The immigration law requires that you update your new address within 10 days of your move.

Vacationing this Summer in the US?

If you are eligible and taking a vacation quarter during the Summer, you will still need to pay for your insurance coverage. Please write a check for $186 to The Lewer Agency, and drop it off with the front desk at IP office.

Remember the 12 Credit Rule!

All academic students must register for a min. of 12 credits to be in compliance with the immigration regulations. If you are registered for less than 12 credits and need assistance to pick up more credits see an advisor immediately!

Reminder to register for the TOEFL

Many students want to take the TOEFL in summer and fall for application to universities in the fall of 2010. Every year TOEFL administrations in the Seattle area fill up very quickly. Please register early and consider taking the test twice just in case you’re not happy with your first score.

Important Dates

IP Office Hours during the Break and First week of Summer Quarter?

Yes, the IP Office will be open, but there will be no walk-in advising available on Thursday or Friday, June 18th and 19th. During the first week of the summer quarter we will have extended hours. Walk-in advising will be available from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Tuition Due Date

Tuition is due by the first day of each quarter and the late fee is $95. Pay early to avoid last-minute credit card or other banking problems.

Are You Registered for Fall?

If you are returning to GRCC you should be registered already for fall quarter. If you are leaving for the summer and plan to return, print a copy of your fall class schedule and keep it with your I-20 as an extra document to show immigration if needed. You probably won't need it, but it may help if you are questioned.

Swine Flu: Is it safe to travel to the US?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO): “Yes, WHO is not recommending restrictions on travel related to the outbreak of the influenza A(H1N1) virus. Today, global travel is commonplace and large numbers of people move around the world for business and leisure.” http://www.who.int/csr/disease/swineflu/frequently_asked_questions/travel/en/index.html

At Green River, we have had no reported cases of swine flu. Just as with all types of flu, we are encouraging students and staff to follow proper health guidelines: wash hands regularly and stay home if not feeling well. This is the best way to prevent and contain any illness. US medical clinics and hospitals are well prepared to treat individuals should they become ill for any reason. There is no reason to worry about studying at Green River Community College.

Graduation: How to Prepare?

7:00 pm, Friday, June 12 at the White River Amphitheatre in Enumclaw. If you are participating in the ceremony please open the link and read the following instructions so you are prepared: www.greenriver.edu/commencement

Shuttle bus transportation will be provided for 75 Green River students on a first come, ticket-only basis from Student Life located on the second floor in the Lindbloom Student Center. Buses will depart from the AD Building Traffic Circle at 5:00 p.m. and return to campus after the event. Student ID is required.

Still need to order your cap & gown? Hurry!

Go to http://www.greenriver.edu/commencement/index.shtm for all the info you need. Many of you may still need to pick up your card at Enrollment Services in LSC and buy a cap and gown from the bookstore.

Leaving the USA soon or taking a Vacation Quarter for Summer?

Here’s a convenient checklist of things you need to be sure to take care of:

- Register for fall quarter (It's always a good idea to print and keep a copy of your fall registration with your I-20 for your return).
- Get your I-20 signed at least 2 weeks before you leave the USA.
- Inform an advisor about your vacation plans so GRCC can inform the immigration service of your plans (as required by F1 visa regulations).
- Buy a small present for your family back home, as appropriate.
- Make arrangements with CCA or your host family about what will happen to your room while you’re gone.
- Are you starting at university when you come back to the USA? Be sure to see an advisor to get the proper transfer paperwork. Bring in your acceptance letter from the university you’ve chosen. You should re-enter the USA using your new school’s I-20, not your old GRCC I-20. Be in contact with immigration advisors at your university to see what you need to do to get your new I-20 from them.

Clayoquot Summer Institute

Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada

Learning Community: Writing and Photographic Culture, Clayoquot Sound Institute

This course consists of eight on-campus meetings and seven days (July 12-19) in the Clayoquot Biosphere, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in British Columbia, Canada. You will live in the field station at the Tofino Botanical Gardens, paddle Clayoquot Sound in traditional Nuu-Chah-Nulth dugout canoes, explore old growth forests, walk along coastal beaches with biologists and interact with the local Euro-Canadian and Nuu-Chah Nulth First Nations communities--all while examining them from an anthropological and historical perspective. In addition to attending performances by local poets, native storytellers, writers and photographers, you will be writing about and photographing the people and scenery of a spectacular environment. This course combines AMES, ANTH or S SCI 211 (Nuu-Chah-Nulth Indians) and ENGL& 236 or 237 (Creative Writing I and II) or Photo 111 (Beginning Digital Photography) for 10 credits. There is an additional program fee of $950.

When is Tuition Due? Are you Confused?
Tuition is always due for international students on the first day of class. You may want to pay early to avoid the long lines at the cashier's office on the first day of the quarter, or pay online using online services.

Are you going to apply for university this Fall or Winter? Have you done your research? Or are you overwhelmed by all the information you need for transferring? ANGEL is here to help!

Your advisors have created a website where you can have direct access to the transfer information of your need. It is on ANGEL. ANGEL is a on line system which all GRCC students have the access to.

Transferring Soon?

Come in to the IP Office to get your I-20 transferred properly. You will need a letter of acceptance from the new school and we will help you with the rest of the paperwork.

Sign up for TOEFL Now!

If you plan to start applying to Universities this fall, you should be aware that many schools require a TOEFL score. Check the school websites to know what they require. If you need a TOEFL score Register for TOEFL early to reserve your seat locally. In recent years many students who waited until fall to register were shocked that they were not able to test in WA State because the seats were full. Even some of those who registered early found that their test date was cancelled the day before testing. Always check your email before the test date. A few of those students also traveled out of State to take the test. Don't let this be your story! Register and test early!

Traveling?

Get that I-20 signature before leaving the country, if you plan to return to GRCC. Don't forget and don't wait until the last minute!

New Class Added

Psych 209 research methods course. It will be offered online this summer. This class will not be offered again until the next academic year 2010-2011, or possibly 2011-2012 if we offer it in the summer.

UW Admission News

The notification period for all international transfer students is from May through early July. Students who applied for summer quarter will receive a decision in late May or early June and all other applicants will be notified in mid to late June. The School of Business generally makes their decisions in late May or early June.

For IESL Students
· Students can access their schedule for Summer Quarter on-line Saturday, June 20th after 12:00 p.m.
· Study Day, June 10th, IESL Classes will be in session. You must attend your finals!
· Please pay any outstanding fees (CCA, library, parking, etc) as soon as possible. Level 5 students will not be able to graduate and Level 1-4 students cannot register until all fees have been paid.

Who is it for? Students who live at Campus Corner Apartments and students who walk to and from nearby apartment complexes
Where do they drive? To local convenience stores (Circle K and Shell). To and from CCA to neighborhood apartments

In-class registration forms will be distributed in your Reading/Writing classes starting on Monday, May 11th. They are used to determine your plans for next quarter. When you fill it out, please be sure all of your information is accurate and up to date. If you plan on taking a vacation quarter, transferring, or going home, please be sure to see your advisor as soon as possible. If you plan on attending GRCC, you will be registered when we receive your form. If you are not sure of your plans, an IESL staff member will follow up with you in a few weeks.

We need your pictures and/or videos to put in the IESL graduation movie. Remember there will be rewards given to those who participate. Your NSA

If this is your first academic quarter, schedule your New Student Appointment with your assigned advisor at the IP office. Your advisor will help you plan your education at GRCC and answer any questions you have. If you fail to complete your appointment by the 8th week of the quarter, you registration account will be blocked. Yikes!

Dropping Classes

There has been a major change in the process for dropping a class beginning this quarter (spring 09). The ability to drop classes online without instructor signatures now exists. However, because of immigration requirements, International Students should not drop any classes after the 3rd day of the quarter without approval from an International Programs advisor.

If you drop below 12 credits without prior authorization, you will be out of status with immigration no matter when you drop the class or for what reason!! You should always meet with your IP advisor BEFORE dropping any class to make sure you are not missing any degree or transfer requirements or jeopardizing your immigration status.

Spring is here! Welcome Back! For those new students who joined us this winter, welcome to the family! This E-Newsletter will bring you the most up to date information on things happening on campus. Important Dates

March 30-Spring classes begin. Tuition payment is due. Avoid a $95 late fee by paying before the end of the day. Last day for 100% refund of tuition and fees. Waitlist is inactive-see instructor for enrollment
April 2- All registrations, add, and drops require instructor's signature- no online registration
April 3- Last day for 80% refund of tuition only- fees are nonrefundable

IP Office Hours

First week of spring quarter: Walk in is available from Mon-Wed from 8am-5pm, and Thurs-Fri 9am-5pm.

Normal Hours: The IP Office is open from 9:00 am-5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Walk in advising is available Monday-Friday: 10:00 am-12:00 pm 1:00 pm-5:00 pm.

Please remember that walk in time with an advisor must be limited to 15 minutes. For longer time please schedule an appointment.

Tuition Due Date

Tuition is due by the first day of the quarter (3/30/09). Students that have any amount of tuition owing at the close of the business on the first day of the quarter will receive a $95 late fee.

IESL Information:

· Remember to get your schedules on-line! Go to the Green River website http://www.greenriver.edu/; you will need your Student ID # and PIN #.

· Be sure to pay your tuition either online or at the Cashier’s office by the first day of the quarter. If you don’t, your classes may be dropped.

· The TOEFL test is given once per quarter for IESL students. Sign-up day is Tuesday, April 14th at 10:00 a.m. The test will be on Saturday, April 25th at 9:00 a.m.

· In order to not be charged for the school’s insurance, personal health insurance policies are due on the first day of the quarter.

· Proof of English Proficiency is due no later than the first day of the quarter! Once you have started IESL classes it may be too late to get into Academic classes.

Walk-in Advising During Spring Break and Beyond.

Walk-ins will be very limited during orientation week (spring break). There will be no advisors available from Monday, March 23 through Wednesday, March 25. Walk-in advising will be available on a limited basis on Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27.

During the first week of the quarter, all advisors will available on walk-ins only for registration-related questions.

I-20 Signatures Required for International Travel

Do you plan to take a trip outside the US during spring break? Avoid the rush at the end of the quarter. Come to the IP Office and get your I-20 signed early!

Grade Day: March 19th @ 2:30 p.m. in the MDA of the Lindbloom Student Center

TOEFL Scores: Distributed in IVA-101 after you get your grades

Level 5 Graduation: March 20th @ 1:00 p.m. in the MDA of the Lindbloom Student Center – Even if you are not a level 5 student you are still welcome to come and show your support
Get your Spring quarter schedules online on Friday, March 27th after 12:00 p.m. If you get your schedule before then it will be wrong.
First Day of classes for Spring Quarter is Monday, March 30th.

**Please make sure you have paid any outstanding fines before the end of the quarter (for example library fees, parking fees, etc.).

The library is now offering a 24/7 online chat reference service for GRCC students.
