Winter 2009 E-Newsletter Issue #1

Hello Students,

Happy New Year and warm Holiday greetings to all of you! For those new students who joined us this winter, welcome to the family! This E-Newsletter will bring you the most up to date information on things happening on campus. Bookmark this link to stay informed. Important Dates


Jan 5- Winter classes begin. Last day for 100% refund (tuition only, fees are non-refundable)

Jan 7- Last day to register without instructor's signature

Jan 8- Signatures required for all registration adds and drops
Jan 9- Last day for 80% refund (tuition only, fees are non-refundable)
Tuition is Due Today (January 5th)!

Please don't be late or you will have a $95 late fee added to your bill! Ouch!!!

IP Office Hours


The IP Office is normaly open from 9:00 am-5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Walk in advising is also available Monday-Friday:

10:00 am-12:00 pm

1:00 pm-5:00 pm

Advising During the First Week of Winter Quarter



Advising will be limited to registration and urgent issues only during the first week of the quarter. Advisors will be available to help you in the IP Office from 8am from Jan 5th-9th. Normal IP Office hours will resume from Jan 12th.

12 Credit Rule

All academic students must register for a min. of 12 credits to be in compliance with the immigration regulations.

How to Overload into Classes

If you are still on a wait list on the first day of class and you still want to be enrolled in that class, you must attend the class and get permission from the instructor. There is no guarantee that you will get in. Be polite with your request and you may have a chance!

Campus Safety Ride -Important Schedule Change-

Campus Safety ride is no longer available by phone. Campus Safety vans will run from CCA on the half hour from 5:00 pm until 10:30 pm Sunday-Thursday, and from 5:00 pm until 1:30 am on Friday and Saturdays nights. The van route will be as follows: CCA-Seasons-Pasa Fino-Amberview-Library. You may flag a ride if you see the van coming along it's regular route.

New Student Appointment (NSA)



If this is your first academic quarter, schedule your NSA with your assigned advisor at the IP office. If you fail to complete your appointment by the 8th week of the quarter, you registration account will be blocked. Yikes!

Address Update



If you recently moved, please click here to update your address. The immigration law requires that you update your new address within 10 days of your move.

Office Hours during the break



During the break the IP office is open for regular hours (M-F 9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm)

12/19 Advising will be in the STA building (look for the sign on the IP office door)

12/24 Campus closes at noon for Christmas Eve

12/25 Campus is closed for Christmas Day

12/31 Campus closes at noon for New Year's Eve

1/1 Campus is closed for New Year's Day

Note: Winter 09 New Student Orientation is scheduled from 12/29 through 12/31. No advisors will be available to see current students during that time. Advisors will be available to see current students after orientation on Friday 1/2/09.

Check your I-20 Expiration Date!


You must always have a valid I-20. If your I-20 is about to expire then you must apply for a new one before it expires. Bring your I-20 to the IP office IMMEDIATELY and we can help you. You can see if your I-20 expiration date by reading #5 on the first page.


Traveling outside the US?



You must get a signature on your I-20 before you leave! If you have had your I-20 signed within six months of your return date you do not need another signature. Also, we recommend that you print out your class schedule for winter quarter and carry it with your documents. If you are questioned upon re-entry to the US it is handy to have that.

Newly Open: Physics 202 class!



This is offered on Tues and Thursday evening from 6:30-9:30pm with Muihead. The prerequisite is a 2.0 or higher grade in Phys 201 and Math 124;and at least concurrent enrollment in Math 125. The item number is 7535
