Are you Traveling during Spring Break?

If you will be traveling outside the US you will need to have your I-20 signed by an advisor before you leave. Signatures are valid for 6 months. It's not too early to take care of this now. Don't delay; visit IP today!

Spring Break is a Great Time to Visit Universities!

Have you thought of taking a tour of schools you might be interested in transferring to? Spring break is the perfect time for a road trip! Get a group together to share the expense of the rental car, gas and hotel. Don't hesitate to contact the schools to let them know of your visit. Some may even offer hospitality: campus tours, time with admissions advisors, class visitations or even overnight stays in their dorms!

Making Payment for Spring Quarter

Payment is due each quarter by the first day of class. However, it is smart to make your payment early. You can avoid the lines the first day of the quarter, and avoid a late fee in the event of banking issues. You may make payment (at the cashier's office or online) any time after you have registered for your classes. If you are waitlisting for other classes you will need to make payment for any additional classes after they are added.

Will you be Graduating this Spring?

It's time to apply for your degree! Come to the IP office to pick up your degree application right away! You will also need to print a copy of your "Degree Audit" and submit that with your application at the cashier's office. The cost is just $10. If you apply for your degree, in May you will receive more information about participating in the (optional) June graduation ceremony.

Winter 2010 E-Newsletter Issue #4

Important Dates

Feb 15th- President's day (campus closed)

Feb 26th- Last day to submit pass/non-credit petition to Enrollment Services

Feb 26th- Last day to officially withdraw or add classes for winter quarter

What is the difference between Dropping and a Pass/Non- Credit?

Dropping a class means that you will no longer be taking that class.

You will receive a permanent "W" on your transcript if you drop this late in the quarter. Drops require an instructor signature and must be processed through the IP Office.

Changing to Pass/Non-Credit is an option to keep the class, but protect your GPA.

With this option, you are still enrolled in the class, but instead of a grade you receive a "P" on your permanent transcript, if you pass the class with a GPA of 1.5 or above, or an "NC" (no credit) if you do not pass. The application for Pass/Non-Credit is to be submitted to Enrollment Services in LC before the above deadline.
Remember, you must maintain a minimum of 12 credits to remain in status with your visa requirements. If you have questions please see your advisor.

Registration for Spring Quarter

You may be nervous about getting exactly the instructor you want for all of your classes this spring quarter. That may be a reality. For now, do this:

1) Do your best to register for the classes and instructors you want.

2) If you don't get your favorite teacher sign up for another section, and get on your favorite teacher's waiting list.
Note:If an instructor isn’t listed next to the class, then the department has not assigned the class to an instructor yet. Do not wait to register for it because many times you do not know until the first day of the quarter.
