Important Dates

Check Your Registration Access Time!

Be ready to register as soon as you have access time. You will be able to register for both summer and fall classes in May. Access priority is given to students who have the most credits earned, starting on May 10th. Check your access time with online services or by clicking here.
12 Credit Rule Reminder

The deadline for dropping classes is coming up, but in order to stay in status you must keep a minimum of 12 credits each quarter. Changing to Pass/Non-Credit is another way to protect your GPA, but it may or may not be best for you depending on the circumstances. If you have questions about dropping classes or changing to Pass/Non-Credit please see an advisor immediately.

ANGEL is Here to Help!

Are you going to apply for university this coming fall or winter? Have you done your research? Are you overwhelmed by all the information you need for transferring? ANGEL is here to help!

Your advisors have created a website in ANGEL where you can have direct access to the transfer information of your need. ANGEL is an on line system which all GRCC students have the access to.

To log on, go to http://greenriver.angellearning.com/ Your log on user name is your GRCC e-mail user name and your password is your student ID number. After you have logged on, click on "IP Advising" under "Community Group". ANGEL will save half of your time on your university research!


IESL Summer Registration:

Registration forms for summer quarter will be distributed the week of May, 10th 2010. Please make sure you we have your update information; phone number, email address, and address.

Leadership and Service Awards for Commencement

Each year at Commencement, Green River Community College (GRCC) recognizes three students for leadership and three students for community service. The awards recognize outstanding leadership and service students contribute to the GRCC community. Students who are interested in applying for this award must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, have held a position of leadership, and/ or have contributed to a GRCC community service project. Student award winners must participate in the Commencement ceremony on June 11, 2010 at the ShoWare Center.
Please feel free to download the application packet or pick-up a packet at the Student Life information desk.
The complete application is due by May 12th at 4pm in LSC 206.

When you sign up you can get messages to both your email and your cell phone in the event of a campus emergency. You will know if the latest campus safety status. It is very convenient as you don’t need to keep calling campus to find out what the situation is in the event of power outages and inclement weather like we had last week. * Send a Red Flag- GRCC has an information reporting system. Please click here to report any suspicious behavior or security threats on campus. In a true emergency please call 911 first to contact the police, the fire department or to get emergency medical help.

* Campus Safety Rides are available from dusk (currently around 5:00 pm) until 11:00 pm on Sunday through Thursday, and dusk until 2:00 am on Friday and Saturday within 1.5 miles of campus. Call 253-797-4868 which will put you in direct contact with the driver of the van that night. Be safe, use Safety Rides!

Spring 2010 E-Newsletter Issue #3

You may be aware that two international students are running for Vice President: Andy from Vietnam, and Young Sunny Park from S Korea. Vote for your favorite on April 27, 28 or 29.

Hurry and Schedule your NSA before Registration
If this is your first academic quarter, schedule your New Student Appointment with your assigned advisor at the IP office. Thursdays are appointment days. Your advisor will help you plan your education at GRCC and answer any questions you have. If you fail to complete your NSA appointment, your registration account will be blocked. Yikes!

Prepare to Register for Summer AND Fall classes in May

· Schedule your NSA in IP if this is your first academic quarter (see note above)
· Check the Summer and Fall Quarter Schedule and plan your schedule
· Check your registration access time here
· If you have any money owed to GRCC or CCA, or books overdue from the library you may have a block on your registration. Be sure you clear up any payments owed and return all borrowed books.
· You will want to register for both summer and fall as early as possible to be sure to get the classes you need

Peer Volunteer Applications Due April 30th

Do you want to help welcome new international students during orientation, have fun, and make new friends? Peer Volunteers do just that! Apply to become a Peer Volunteer at the IP Office. Applications are available at the Front Desk now.

You must be a current GRCC international student in at least your second quarter.

Both IESL and Academic students are welcome to apply.

You must be available during both summer and fall quarters and during both orientations.

More information about the position and required dates are in the application packet in the IP Office. Applications are due by 5pm on Friday, April 30.

Job Opening: Student Marketing Assistant for Indonesia
Qualified applicants must:
-be available the entire summer 2010 and for fall orientation which begins on September 10th
-be a continuing student for Fall 2010-Spring 2011
-have completed at least one quarter and carry a minimum GPA of 3.4
-be fluent in English and Indonesian
-have excellent people skills as well as computer skills

Will You Graduate in June?



· Apply for your diploma now if you are graduating this spring or summer: http://www.greenriver.edu/enrollment/content/forms/degree-application.pdf

· See an advisor to get a Degree Audit before you submit your application.

· You can walk in the ceremony in June if you are graduating this spring or summer.

· More info about the ceremony (including when and where it will held and how to get your cap and gown) will be posted on the GRCC website and in a future E-Newsletter.

Commencement Shuttles
Green River will offer three shuttle buses for a single run on June 11 to the ShoWare Center. The shuttles will depart from campus at 5:00 pm from the bus circle on the east side of campus and depart from the ShoWare after commencement at approximately 10:00 p.m.

Sign-ups for the shuttle will be coordinated through Campus Life in the Lindbloom Student Center. The shuttles are open to everyone (graduates, family, friends and staff) on a first come, first served basis. There are a total of 75 seats available. Once the 75 seats are filled, Campus Life will maintain a waitlist from which to pull names if there are cancellations or no shows.

The cut-off date to reserve seats is Wednesday, June 9.

CCA has a recognition program to thank residents that have positively contributed to the CCA community. CCA residents can nominate their peers by emailing Tiff Hayes thayes@greenriver.edu. The April Resident of the Month will be announced this week so please nominate someone today!!
Send Tiff the nominee’s name, apartment number and your reason for nominating that person. CCA wants to recognize those residents who create a fun and respectful atmosphere at CCA!
Winners will receive a small prize. Their picture and some information about them will be posted on the bulletin board by the CCA office and on CCA’s blog: http://www.campuscornerapts.blogspot.com/.
All Residents of the Month will be invited to attend a banquet in June to celebrate their achievement and receive a certificate.
